WHAT TO EXPECT

The Resist the Drift Marriage Event is an opportunity to connect with your spouse and discover faith-filled tools that will spark transformation in your marriage. Sessions include:

Session 1 | Roommates to Soulmates

Roommates don’t have time for each other; soulmates use simple, everyday moments to stay connected. One “little fox” in marriage is busyness. It takes a lot to manage our marriage and family. Schedules and demanding responsibilities leave little time for each other. Busyness hijacks connection and ushers in disengagement. Couples will learn how to respond to “bids for connection” and use “connection rituals.”

Session 2 | Close Pursuit Part 1

Roommates are bored and their passion has been replaced by predictable routine; soulmates closely pursue each other in exciting ways. Our love story, like yours, started with passion and excitement as we got to know each other, laughed at new jokes and stories, displayed affection, experienced new adventures, tried new things, and grew closer together. However, once we were married for a few years, many of the fun, romantic and crazy things we did while dating all but disappeared. Like you, daily life consumed us, and we got busy with work, raising kids, hobbies and other pursuits. Couples will learn about cherish and nourish lists and what it means to rediscover your spouse.

Session 3 | Close Pursuit Part 2

Session 4 | Fully Alive

Roommates are exhausted and have nothing to give; soulmates give regularly out of an abundantly full heart. We live in a fast-paced, busy culture. We have full plates overflowing with good things: Jobs, children, kid activities, household responsibilities, hobbies, church, extended family, and friends. Overloaded schedules lead to hectic interactions that lead to exhausted people who are empty. In the end, our spouse and children get relational leftovers, and relationships can’t survive long on table scraps. Godly self-care is the God-given responsibility to care for yourself so you can love others from a place of fullness and abundance. Couples will learn about how to identify what brings them rest and what brings them life.

Session 5 | In Our Wildest Dreams

Roommates have no long-term plans; soulmates pursue shared dreams together. What you and your spouse can do together is far greater than what you can do on your own. Your combined abilities, experience, gifting, talents and passions create an incredible God-blessed synergy—the two become one. God unites couples to do together what they could never do alone! Thus, we need to develop a shared vision that we are passionate about pursuing together. Pursuing a shared vision together requires you to understand what both individuals feel God calling them to do and what God is calling you as a couple to do together to bless others—the wife, the husband, and the marriage relationship all need to matter. Couples will learn about tools to begin dreaming together and will ask the questions, “What is God calling ’YOU; to do?” and “What is God calling ’US’ to do together?”
